Most Of Us Are Immigrants, Islip Museum of Art, Islip, NY; 8' x 50' x 18'; steel; 1999

In 1997, Goldner created Most Of Us Are Immigrants for Sara Roosevelt Park on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The five eight-foot steel vessels record U.S. immigration stories, bearing the words culled from interviews, journals and historic records of those individuals who made the journey to America over the last 200 years. Working in partnership with the Roosevelt Park Community Coalition, this sculptural installation was part of the reopening of the renovated park. Public art offers an opportunity to make art accessible to people and impact people's lives by enriching and engaging community members within a familiar neighborhood space. Most Of Us Are Immigrants is now part of the permanent collection of the Islip Museum on Long Island.
